Bear Hunt with Hounds (Guided) :
This black bear hunt entails using "proven"
bear hounds of various breeds to "run" a
bear. We do this by "rigging" with strike
dogs. Once the hounds scent a bear, they are
released to pursue and tree the bear.
Each dog is equipped with a radio
collar which emits a unique signal, allowing
us to monitor the direction and activity of the
dogs. Using four-wheel drive trucks, we attempt
to head the bear off, positioning ourselves as
close as possible to the chase. While the dogs
keep the bear treed, we drive as close as possible,
then walk to the tree. Then you get positioned
for the best possible shot. Rifles, shotguns,
handguns and bows are all acceptable for this
type of hunt.

Black Bear Hunt Over Bait (Guided):
We will hunting from stands placed
over bait. We bait a minimum of two sites for
each hunter. Hunters can choose the bait used.
Each stand is positioned with consideration to
the weapon of your choice (as well as from which
side you prefer to shoot). In most cases you
will be hunting from ladder stands. Each stand
is erected to provide a comfortable, sturdy,
and safe position from which to hunt.
We use trail timers and cam trackers
to maximize your hunting success. In the event
that your trophy does not fall within sight,
we will track a bear trail with our hounds -
so recovery is all but assured.
COST: MAINE BLACK BEAR
HUNTING (OVER BAIT): $1500.00. Includes
meals, lodging and transportation to and from
the stand.
COST: SEMI-GUIDED MAINE
BEAR HUNTING (OVER BAIT): $1250.00.
This
includes meals
and lodging, and help in retrieval of the
bear.You transport yourself to the
bait stand and back.
NOTE 1: We limit
our Bait hunts to 10 people per week. This provides
a proper ratio of hunter to guide, which also
provides the best chance for you to take a trophy
bear. If you're tried of big groups, poor service,
and poor results - then try Sunrise Ridge. This
is a premium trip!
NOTE 2: Kill
ratio with “over bait” hunts is 70 to 100 % -
and sightings are 95%
NOTE 3: Prices
for hunts are per person and with a 5 day stay
(including meals and lodging). A 50% deposit
is required when making reservations, and the
remaining balance is due 60 days prior to arrival.
Deposits are non-refundable, but you are welcome
to choose someone else to take your place. Personal
checks are welcome for deposits ONLY.

Appropriate game license
Game tag
Camera & film (for great memories!)
Compass (never go into the woods without one)
Warm clothing (evenings can get cool)
Rubber boots
Flashlight and knife
Padded cushion (during Bear over bait season)
Big game license from your home state (in order
to purchase a Maine hunting license).
Cooler for meat
Two articles of “Hunter Orange” must be worn
at all times during Deer season (one of which
MUST be a hat). During Moose season, you'll need
a single article of orange clothing (hat or vest)
Full camouflage suit with face mask (for Bear
over bait trips)
